PRESS RELEASE: CANDIDATES NIGHT IN PHILIPSTOWN 10/25/02
WHEN: WEDENSDAY OCTOBER 30th 6:30pm
Location: The Hamilton Fish Library, lower level conference room
Route 9d at the intersection of Route 403, Garrison, NY
845-424-3020.
This is scheduled to be an informal get-together opportunity for
the candidates of several of the offices which are of interest to
the residents of Philipstown in western Putnam County to meet and
hear from the candidates in the November election.
Some of the candidates will be arriving and leaving at different
times. The Chamber spokespersons will be scheduling the
candidates on the basis of availability for the audience, and to
the candidate's time.
A refreshment table is planned.
Basic Rules:
1. Each candidate will be given a 5 minute opening statement.
Subjects addressed can be anything from the list we the Chamber
feel is important to the community, or any which the candidate
feels is important to the voters.
2. Candidates may respond for two minutes to each question from
the audience. The number of questions from the audience will be
determined by the amount of time that will be given for each
office, and that will be further determined upon the candidates
present at any given time.
3. Questions will be taken from the audience for one of the candidates
which will be for 2 minutes. The other candidate(s) will be given
2 minutes to respond. The other candidate(s) will be asked if
they feel a need to respond. If so they will be given an additional
2 minutes until the original question has been exhausted. The
next question from the audience will be asked from the other
candidate who did not start off the prior exchange.
4. A table will be provided for the candidates to place campaign
information, but we do not want any attack or anti-candidate
materials placed for the public. These should be biographical,
position, and informational.
5. At the end of any office discussion by the candidates, each
candidate will be given a 5 minute summation to say what ever the
candidate wishes to express to the audience.
