This home is a classic Federal style furnished with period pieces by Duncan Phyfe and other leading cabinetmakers of the day. Boscobel is one of the outstanding decorative arts museums in the country. Features beautiful gardens, an orangerie and herb garden, rose garden, an apple orchard, Gate House, and Gift Shop. Admission fee to visit the grounds or a guided tour of the mansion. Hours of operation are seasonal. Summer months feature the outdoor HUDSON VALLEY SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL a very popular attraction for the area. On permanent display at the library is the painting "Picnic on the Hudson" by Thomas Rossiter, Hudson River School artist. See the ruins of the old foundry. Little Stony Point State Park Route 9d, North of Route 301, Cold Spring NY, 10516, Telephone: (845) 265-7815 Our Lady Chapel South End of Market Street, Cold Spring NY, 10516, Telephone: (845) 265-5537 This famous chapel originally built in 1834 and recently restored, was built to serve the West Point Foundry workers. Beautifully located overlooking the Hudson River, it is now open to all faiths for recitals, weddings and special events. It is conveniently situated across from the train station. The Bandstand and Dock feature great views, concerts and a scale model of the famous Civil War Parrott gun maunfactured at the West Point Foundry. Historic District: This area of the village of Cold Spring, its Main Street and some side streets are a designated historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The streets are lined with commercial and residential buildings typical of mid to latter 19th century America, yet unspoiled by time or development. Walking tours of the historic district are conducted on Sundays, May through November. The Hudson Highlands The views and vistas up and down the Hudson Fjord. Hudson House Completed in 1837, it was originally called the Pacific Hotel and has the distinction of being one of the oldest hostelries in continuous use in New York State. Main Street ShoppingAn interesting mix of antiques, boutiques, crafts and gift shops. Old Train StationThe original 1894 depot is now a popular restaurant with outdoor dining. Adjacent to the old depot is the George Washington Plaque that designates the spot where Washington drank from the cold spring and thus bestowed the name on the village. This is, of course, legend. The name actually appeared as early as 1772 in logs of vessels that sailed up the Hudson and took on fresh water in this area. Philipstown Hall 238 Main St., erected 1867 and still the location of the government of Philipstown. Davenport Monument is located on Main Street, two blocks east of the junction of Route 9D and Main Street, and marks the site of the farm of the first recorded settler, Thomas Davenport, in the 1730's. Cold Spring Cemetery Dating from the mid-18th century, a large cemetery with many notables including Warren and Emily Robeling co-builders of the Brooklyn Bridge. Mountain Avenue Cemetery Dating from the mid-18th century, the oldest cemetery in Cold Spring has the graves of the first settler, Thomas Davenport (1730's) and foundry workers. McConville Park A place to relax in the center of the Village of Cold Spring-on-Hudson.
