PHILIPSTOWN PLACES TO SEE

DAVENPORT MONUMENT

Located on Main Street, two blocks east of the junction of Route 9D and Main Street, marks the site of the farm of the first recorded settler, Thomas Davenport, in the 1730's.

Plaque reads..."Thomas Davenport 1682-1759 Pioneer Settler, Built his log house and reared his twelve children here about 1729."
