Historic and Scenic Roads of Philipstown
Indian Brook Road Page 3
Next cross Route 9 and turn east at the Bird and Bottle sign.
This is one of the most famous landmarks in the Northeast.
Originally known as Warren's Tavern, The Bird and Bottle Inn
has been a working New York State inn since 1761. It was a resting place for stage coaches enroute to Albany
and while horses were changed passengers enjoyed food and drink at the tavern's tables.
The Inn sits at the intersection with the famous
Old Albany Post Road (not ready) and the six mile portion of this federally designated historic road is unique and unspoiled in beauty and by its
special significance in history.
The continued phase of the trip is currently being worked on (06/12/98).
