Scenic Hudson Land Trust

Scenic Hudson is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the scenic, natural, historic, and recreational treasures of the Hudson River Valley.

In 1996, Scenic Hudson acquired the 185 acre site containing the ruins of the West Point Foundry and surrounding marshlands. The Foundry played an important role during the Civil War and through the efforts of Scenic Hudson, this site is an historic preserve. Surveys and public workshops are being conducted to determine the future of Foundry Cove. The site of the former foundry is located at the bottom of Kemble Avenue in the village of Cold Spring.

In the town of Philipstown, Scenic Hudson, working with Outward Bound and the Open Space Institute, opened the 155-acre Manitou Point Preserve. This was formerly the 19th century estate of the Livingston family and the mansion is now home to Outward Bound, Inc. There are 4 miles of hiking trails that include the experiences offered by Manitou Marsh, the Hudson River and wooded uplands.
