One of the oldest members of the Philipstown community, Surprise Lake
Camp has been in operation for nore than 100 years. The camp serves Jewish
children from the greater New York area, and has an enduring commitment for
scholarships for those in need. Former campers include Eddie Cantor, Larry
King, Jerry Stiller, Walter Matthau, Robert Abrams, Neil Diamond, Neil Simon,
Gene Simmons, and Joseph Heller.
