Sally H. Singh, an active Philipstown resident is announcing her candidacy for one of the two positions as Philipstown Assessor as a member of the Republican Team Philipstown.
Sally is active in several Town organizations. She is currently President of the North Highlands Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and Vice President of the Highland Garden Club. She is a member of the Church Choir and Prayer Group of Our Lady of Loreto. Earlier Sally was involved with the Haldane PTA, Mothers on Monday and the Ballet Arts Studio.
Sally Singh graduated from Mount Holyoke College with a BA iN 1960 cum laude and a membershiip in Phi Beta Kappa. She received her PhD in Economics from The Johns Hopkins University in 1970. Her doctoral dissertatiion dealt with municipal finances in Bogota, Medellin and Cali, Colombia.
She taught Economics full-time at Lawrence University, Wheaton College and Simmons College from 1964-1970 and part-time at Vassar College, Marist College and (currently) at SUNY, New Palz.
Sally Singh was a research economist in the government finance section, Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System from 1970-1972.
She married K. Paul Singh in 1972 and was widowed in 1995. She has two children, Harry and Monica, who attended Haldane. Harry subsequently graduated from the University of Chicago and from the University of Virginia Law School. Monica recently graduated from Vanderbilt University.
